One of those days

Today is one on those days,

when the morning sparrow waits patiently,

for the faint touch of dawn to light her eye,

piquing her enthroned steadfast earnestness,

in a forever, spontaneous song,

rising in a surety and confidence,

to the ever breaking light.

How remarkable her co-existence,

so unobtrusive and benign,

until she lays still, lifeless before your feet.

In the moment you kneel, to hold her small in hand,

a delicate repentance wells up,

for even the sparrow finds a home at our altars.

And then, a shed tear from heaven catches your cheek,

inviting your gaze into an adorned blue sky,

sharing witness to the light wisps of her soul ascending.

But, today is one of those days,

where the remnant sky is free and clear,

promising to be temperate, kind and forgiving,

warming our ruffled feathers in a weightless, suspended glide.
